SquadGod Quality of Life Updates — What's New for Grassroots Football Coaches

A round-up of the biggest improvements to land in SquadGod over the past two months — from personalised player dashboards to smarter newsfeeds, robust season transitions, and career-long stat tracking.

We don't shout about every update. Most of the work that goes into a good coaching app is quiet — fixing the friction, smoothing the rough edges, making data more reliable, and getting information to the right person faster. But enough has shipped in the past two months that it's worth pausing to summarise what's changed.

Whether you're a coach looking for a grassroots football team management app, a statistician tracking player stats across a season, or a player wanting to see their own progress — these improvements are for you.

My Player Card — Your Stats, Front & Centre

DashboardPlayer StatsUX

The team dashboard now leads with a personalised My Player card at the very top. As soon as a player opens their team, they see their own statistical highlights at a glance — goals, assists, saves, tackles, clean sheets, SquadScore position and more.

No scrolling, no hunting. The most relevant data for each individual player is the first thing they see. For coaches managing a squad full of claimed profiles, it means every player gets a personal stake in the dashboard from the moment they open the app.

This was one of the most-requested improvements and it fundamentally changes how the dashboard feels — less like a management tool, more like a personal performance hub.

📊

Team Performance Analytics — A Graphical View of Your Season

Team StatsAnalyticsDashboard

The team dashboard now includes a dedicated graphical performance analytics section that visualises the team's season at a glance. Win/draw/loss breakdowns, form across the season, and key statistical summaries — all presented in a clean, readable format.

Previously, coaches had to piece together this picture from match history. Now it's surfaced automatically. It's the kind of overview that used to require a spreadsheet — now it's built into your grassroots football team app by default.

🔄

Robust Seasonal Transitions — Start a New Season Without Losing Anything

Season ManagementData IntegrityWorkflow

One of the biggest quality of life improvements in recent months is a complete overhaul of how seasons are started and archived. SquadGod now walks coaches through a multi-step "Start New Season" wizard.

The previous season is archived as read-only — all your match history, stats, and leaderboard data is preserved. Individual SquadScore streaks and points are reset for a clean slate. A fresh season is initialised automatically, ready to go.

Career statistics — goals, assists, saves, tackles, clean sheets, POTM awards, matches played — are automatically carried over and accumulated from season to season, so a player's full story across multiple years is never lost.

Member Audit & Migration — Choose Exactly Who Carries Over

The seasonal transition process now includes a granular audit step. Rather than automatically migrating every player and member into the new season, coaches are presented with a clear confirmation screen.

You can selectively toggle which players and team members should move into the new season. That player who left mid-year? That member who's no longer involved? They stay in the archived season without cluttering up your fresh start.

It's a small workflow change that makes a huge practical difference at the start of every new campaign.

📈

Career Stat Accumulation — Track Every Goal Across Every Season

Career StatsPlayer ProfilesLong-term Tracking

SquadGod now maintains persistent career statistics that span multiple seasons automatically. Goals, assists, saves, tackles, clean sheets, POTM awards, and total matches played are all rolled forward when a new season begins.

There's also a pre-SquadGod offset feature — coaches can manually enter stats from before they started using the app, so a player who scored 20 goals last season before the club adopted SquadGod doesn't lose that history.

Over time, this builds a genuine career profile for every player in your squad. Youth football doesn't get this kind of longitudinal data tracking anywhere else for free.

Squad Customisation Improvements — Roles, Positions & Better Visual Handling

Lineup BuilderSquad RosterUX

The lineup builder and squad roster have been refactored to better support role-based player management. Players can now have multiple roles assigned (e.g. CM, CAM, LW) which appear as compact pill badges on their squad cards.

Position handling is now cleanly separated — the tactical pitch position used in the Lineup builder is distinct from the roles displayed across the rest of the app. Persistent state management for lineup positions has been significantly improved, meaning your formation stays put between sessions.

Long player names are now handled more gracefully across the pitch view, with dynamic font sizing rather than truncation so every name reads clearly on mobile.

🛡️

Performance Analytics Cleanup — Reliable Stats You Can Trust

SquadScoreData IntegrityBug Fix

The recalculateTeamStats process has been hardened to detect and automatically remove legacy duplicate adjustment events. Over time, certain system-generated entries could accumulate duplicates that caused SquadScore totals to drift.

The cleanup now runs robustly, verifying and purging duplicates on a per-team basis. The result is that SquadScore leaderboards and player statistics are more reliable and accurate than ever — especially for teams that have been using the app for multiple seasons.

Newsfeed Consolidation — Less Clutter, Better Stories

Team NewsfeedAI NewsMatch Reports

The AI-powered team newsfeed has been significantly improved across several dimensions.

Player achievements are now grouped automatically. Rather than five separate entries for five individual goals, the newsfeed produces a single consolidated scoresheet summary — "Smith, Jones and Patel all got on the scoresheet." Individual headlines are reserved for genuinely notable moments like hat-tricks, doubles, or multiple assists in a single game.

Clean sheet announcements are similarly consolidated into a single, clean post-match entry rather than individual player notifications.

Post-match reports are now delivered automatically into the newsfeed immediately after a match is completed — no manual trigger required. Every player and parent gets a concise, readable match summary the moment results are logged.

What This All Adds Up To

Each of these updates addresses a real friction point that coaches, players, or parents experience using the app. Individually they're quality-of-life improvements. Together they represent a significantly more polished, more reliable, and more motivating experience for every grassroots football team using SquadGod.

The goal has always been to give grassroots clubs the kind of digital infrastructure that professional clubs take for granted — player career stat tracking, intelligent match reporting, fantasy-style incentive schemes, live match commentary — without requiring any technical knowledge or a budget to match.

These updates push that further. More updates are always in progress.
